Adult Ballet
Adult Ballet classes are generally offered on an open drop-in basis. These classes are open to all dancers, women and men, aged at least 14 years. Individual Adult Ballet classes are $15 and 5-class passes are available for $70 and 10-class passes for $130. To save time before your first class, please print and complete this Adult Dance & Fitness Registration Form and send it to TBBS by mail or email, or bring it to with you to your first class.
Ms. Vives and Mr. Ballard teach open intermediate/advanced ballet classes offering the full range of classical ballet technique for students and for adults with previous ballet experience Monday-Friday 10:00-11:30AM and Sunday 10:30-noon.
Adult beginner/intermediate classes are offered Monday and Tuesday at 7:30-8:45PM, Thursday at 7:30-9:00PM and Saturday at 9:30-10:45AM, taught by Claire Bletz, Sydney Schneir, and Cecilia Raassina. A chance for adults returning to the ballet they studied in their youth, or for those starting with little or no ballet experience to re-discover or learn the fundamentals of ballet, continue their study, and express their inner dancer to musical accompaniment and enhance their appreciation of ballet and dance performances. The Monday and Thursday classes are generally taught to a more challenging level than the Tuesday and Saturday classes. Please note that enrollment in these popular classes is limited, so we encourage you to register in advance on-line on the Registration tab to reserve your place.
A lunchtime Ballet Fundamentals class is offered Wednesday 12:30-1:30PM, offering a ballet workout for beginners or returning dancers, designed to improve flexibility, balance and strength using mostly simple barre exercises to provide throrough explanation of positioning, technique and terminology. Amy Robinson's Floor Barre Ballet Workout (Tuesday & Friday 13:30-1:30PM) provides efficient functional core conditioning, stretching and strengthening the body with an eye to alignment and posture. A great class to begin the study of ballet.
The Absolute Beginner Ballet classes are designed for people who are new to ballet. They will start from the beginning, focusing on the fundamentals of basic leg and arm positions, breaking down basic ballet steps, and teaching the French vocabulary for each of the positions and steps. The main objective of the class will be to prepare new dancers with no previous training for the Adult Beginner Ballet classes. However, students of any level are welcome to join if they would like a refresher of the basics. The 8-week sessions will allow us to build on learned material from week to week, so it is important that students plan to attend the majority of the 8 classes. Registration for the current sessions is now open - sign up on the Registration tab or by contacting TBBS. Participation limited to 10 people.
The schedule for these classes is available on our Schedule and Registration pages. Other than the Absolute Beginner Ballet, these classes are offered on an open “drop-in” basis, but since participation is limited, we encourage you to reserve your place in classes you want to attend.
Appointments for private and semi-private classes can also be made by contacting us at info@brooklineballet.com or at 617.879.9988.
