Sinha Capoeira

Sinha Capoeira is a Boston-based international capoeira school lead by C.Mestre Chuvisquinho.  Sinha Capoeira is an independent organization that has recently made TBBS one of its Boston homes.  Sinha Capoeira also has branches in Brazil, Spain and Mexico.

Capoeira is a unique Afro-Brazilian martial art developed initially by African slaves in Brazil, starting in the colonial period. It is marked by deft, tricky movements often played on the ground or completely inverted. Renowned for its fluidity, grace, and power, Capoeira combines elements of martial-arts, dance, music and acrobatics.  It develops strength, coordination, self-confidence, musical skills, flexibility, endurance, confidence and self-awareness.  Even though capoeria is a martial art, many dancers and performers (modern dance and hip-hop) have adopted some of its unique movements and dynamics.  Capoeria is regularly seen in music videos, video games, and movies  such as: Aeon Flux, Catwoman, Ocean’s 12, Meet the Fokkers, Only the Strong, Rooftops, Brenda Star, The Mighty Quinn, The Quest, Lethal Weapon, just to name a few.
