BALLET
The Brookline Ballet School provides two classical ballet programs, the Youth Ballet Program and Open Class Program.
Our Youth Ballet Program is designed for enrolled students age 4 and up. Girls and boys are given age-appropriate instruction based on the traditions of the French school of classical ballet, including the proper use of French terminology. A strong emphasis is placed on the student’s experience of ballet as a complete art form. Ballet is a performing art, so students from the Elementary, Intermediate, and Advanced levels will have the opportunity to perform in front of audiences, which will help to develop their confidence and artistry. Enrollment in the 2010-11 Youth Ballet Program is now open -- you can download the Registration Form by clicking here.
Our Open Ballet classes are offered on an open drop-in basis for dancers of all abilities, women and men, aged at least 14 years. Daily classes are taught by some of Boston’s most renowned instructors. Whether you studied ballet in your youth and would like to dance again, or you are a professional dancer wanting extra dance time and world-class coaching, our classes offer the opportunity to pursue your passion through the continued study of dance. If you are an adult wanting to return to the ballet you studied in your youth, or who has never studied ballet but always wanted to, or if you would like an artistic alternative to going to the gym but have no ballet experience, our Adult Beginner/Intermediate classes, including Absolute Beginner Ballet, are designed for you. Finally, Ballet Fundamentals and Amy Robinson's Floor Barre are ballet workouts designed to build strong, lean muscles by combining the graceful flexibility and dance training of fundamental ballet with simple barre exercises and energetic movements from other exercise forms. To save time before your first class, please print and complete this Adult Dance & Fitness Registration Form and send it to TBBS by mail or email, or bring it to with you to your first class (you can also fill it out when you first visit TBBS).
We are also offering Ballet for Figure Skaters designed speciffically to help competitive figure skaters develop their artistic expression.
Private Classes for advanced level and professional dancers can be arranged by appointment by email or by calling TBBS at 617.879.9988.
